So here we are. It's 2010 and as I look back I just can't imagine where the time has gone. Jason and I met in 1999 and married August 4th, 2001. Since then we have had 3 beautiful children- Ashley, BraeLynne and Eden- to add to the instant family we already had with my step-son Riley. Together we make a very colorful but well rounded and happy little family. For the last few years my job has been at home. It is such a wonderful privelege to be able to be there every day for my children. Jason, on the other hand, keeps very busy outside the home. In addition to his full time job in maintenance at the Sufco coal mine, he is also known as SSG Christensen with the Utah National Guard AND he is a member of the Holden Volunteer Fire Department. As if that wasn't enough to keep a person on their feet, he just started doing Veterans' Honors funerals this year. I am so proud to be married to a man with such loyalty for country and community and such passion for what he believes in.

Stupid (Swine?) Flu

I knew it was coming when Ashley came home from school Monday and announced there were 12 kids absent from his class that day because they were sick. We had all been feeling run down and crappy for a while, but nothing serious. That night I got to bed at about 12:30, and at 1:00 am I woke up to BraeLynne climbing in bed with me crying and trying to throw up on me. We were up for hours cleaning her up and feeling bad for her. Tuesday morning she seemed fine again, but I felt awful. I don't know what my poor kids did all day. Jason left for work at noon and I had only been out of bed for a few minutes by then. I went back to sleep and woke up about 3:00. Poor Eden's diaper was practically dragging on the floor. I changed her and fed them all and crashed again until 7:00. I hadn't been able to keep anything down so I was dizzy and when I walked into the kitchen I passed out and whacked my head on the fridge. I fought to stay up for an hour and I fed the kids again and then put them to bed and went back to sleep. When Jason got home at 1:00 Wednesday I woke up with a big time caffeine headache since I hadn't had a soda or coffee the day before. I made the mistake of taking 2 excedrin, thinking that caffeine usually doesn't keep me up. Turns out when you have been asleep for 24 hours, caffeine does wake you right up. I was awake checking my email and doing chores from 2:00 to 4:00 am on Wednesday, just happy as a clam that I was feeling good again. I got a little nap from 4:00 until 6:30 am when I woke Ashley up for school this morning, and now I feel fine. I lost five pounds over the course of that one day, but I'm trying to make up for it.
